Secretary announces that care will be provided to all veterans at any location at zero cost to them.
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced last week that veterans in a suicidal crisis can now go to any healthcare facility to receive emergency health care at zero cost. They also do not have to be enrolled in the VA system to receive this benefit. There are over 9 million veterans who are not enrolled in the VA system. This change in policy also covers inpatient or crisis residential care for up to 30 days and outpatient care for up to 90 days.
“Veterans in suicidal crisis can now receive the free, world-class emergency health care they deserve – no matter where they need it, when they need it, or whether they’re enrolled in VA care,” said Secretary Denis McDonough. “This expansion of care will save Veterans’ lives, and there’s nothing more important than that.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary McDonough to seek God’s direction as he manages the VA department.
- For VA staff and officials as they care for the nation’s veterans.
- That American veterans who are struggling with suicidal ideation would seek assistance.
